Tasha has been the President of the Gardena Holly Park Homeowners Association since 2005. Prior to her current position, she held a variety of positions including, Executive Secretary, Liasion to the Gardena City Council and Web Site Coordinator. She has been a very active member of the Homeowners Association for 9 years. Through this organization, she has taken on some very tough and controverial issues.
As an Executive Board member of the Gardena Holly Park Homeowners Association, she has been given the opportunity to hear the concerns of the residents within the community. Also, as an Executive Board, Tasha was given the opportunity to organize the residents in protest to LAUSD expansion of Purche Avenue Elementary School. This project would have expanded the current school from K-5 to K-8, resulting in the loss of many homes and would impact many families in the community. In addition, Tasha secured the support of the Gardena City Councilmembers and the residents in protesting the proposed expansion project by LAUSD. The organizational efforts of this committee gathered 700 signatures of the residents in the impacted area of the school. During the hearing, Tasha was appointed the task of speaking before the LAUSD on behalf of the residents in opposition to the expansion project, along with members of the Gardena City Council. The successfully joint effort of this committee prevented the school expansion project in her community.
Tasha served as Chairmain for 4 out of 5 years on the City of Gardena's Rent Mediation Board, presiding over Landlord and Tenants disputes. Her position on this board, gave her the experience to mediate compromise between diverse parties, which is an important tool as a member of the City Council.
Tasha also sucessfully advocated the City Council to enact a moratorium to prevent the overproliferation of storage wharehouses in the City of Gardena.
Tasha fought to stop freight foward truck comapanies from using Gardena as part of their route because of the impact it would have on traffic congestion.
Tasha understands the need for quality supermarkets throughtout the city. She organize a protest to stop Numero Uno Market from locating to the City of Gardena, because of their failure to comply with city codes.
Tasha's number one goal is to ensure that businesses and landowners maintain their property to meet all city regulations which will compliment other businesses in the surrounding area.
Tasha has taken an aggresive stance against the Jet Fuel Line Co. who want to bring a jet fuel pipeline throughout the city of Gardena. Tasha understands the dangers associatied with having this fuel transported through the city. She has conducted several forums so residents could voice their opinions.
